Otting highlighted "continued progress" toward becoming a top-performing regional bank, the market reacted negatively to a significant miss on net interest income estimates. Following the report, Flagstar's stock declined 6.3% to trade at $13.78.
Performance across the sector was mixed, revealing clear winners and losers. Ellington Financial emerged as a standout, posting revenue of $123.1 million—a 33.1% year-on-year surge that exceeded expectations by 9.4%. Its stock rose 3.6% following the strong report. Conversely, PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust suffered a severe miss, with its $72.73 million in revenue landing 24.2% below forecasts.
